No More LRP.

Just a quick question. As we all are aware LRP is getting harder to find and soon will be totally gone. Does anyone know if the lead additive you put into unleaded will affect the mixing of outboard oil? or not worry about it and just start running unleaded?

heh i guess this motor dosent have valves (duh)

yerh if the head is taken off and the motor decompressed somehow (2 head gaskets)
or die grinding the head to reduce compression

this could possibly work

Dan, all evinrude/Johnson engines post 1985 can use straight unleaded...thats a fact!

The local Merc dealer told me to only run LRP. But this is getting hard to do. Can I just put the additive into the fuel with the 2 stroke oil or will it react badly???

Cheers Spaniard, It clearly states not to use Premium in the older engines due to the high compression. This is good to know, It looks like a new head gasket is in order.... Any volunteers???? Its worth a bottle of rum aint it..

Wezza LRP is premium unleaded with a bit of uppercyliner lube added, so no change unless your motor has valves! If you would like to run basic unleaded ask your mechanic to retard the timing to suit if it already hasn't been, it will use more fuel and run slower though Talk about getting slowly screwed by gov regulation .nq

In older 2 strokes, ULP and 2 stroke oil is all you need.

No upper cyl lub is eneded as you cant get valve recession without valves.

PULP is too high octane to allow complete combustion in older outboard, don't touch it. Unless you have had some ULP fuel sitting for a couple of months (looses octane) then top it up with PULP to average the octane back to ULP.

PS. did you know they are removing LRP as the addative has been proven to cause damage in some engine?
