    Cowling Cleaner?

    Hi all,

Does anyone know what product to use to bring my 94 Mercury Cowling back to new. Its not too bad but needs some attention prior to fitting a cover. I've used vehicle cut and polish and only made that area worse. Any ideas appreciated, thanks.

    Mick,

I had a similar thing with my old merc. Tried cut and polish, but left marks. Then I gave it a try with straight polish (no cut in it). I use teflon added polish on my glass boat. Anyway, the polish worked wonders.

Here is a picture of it now. And it has been about 4 months since I did it. It use to be a matt finish with no shine. I originally thought about repainting it because it was tht bad.

By the way, the polish was Star Brite marine polish with Teflon. Got it at Whitworths.

good timing for this post. I tried polishing my 2001 merc cowling on the weekend. Meguirs and something else (car) and must admit does leave marks. Was wondering what would be best for looks and protection - I'll try this stuff you've recommended.
