    normal or premium (higher octane)

    Hi guys
Advice time again, i am hearing that it better to run two strokes on the premium fuels such as Optimax, BP, Voretex etc, has anyone got any ideas on why they should be used instead of normal unleaded and which one is the better one to use (if there are any differences)
    Regards

You can run normal 90RON or Higher Octane 93RON. I have bought a new boat with a Mariner ELPTO 50 and the mechanic has told me that it will run fine on ULP. If you use premium, you will not need additive for varnish removal, as it's already added. There will be no noticable performance increase on a mid range 2 stroke. I would use it on the higher performing 90+HP motors though.

    HI RD
Thanks for input, the thing you say about the fuel companies putting a varnish removal in, do all the fuel companies do it???

All of the fuel companies seem to have RON 90/91, RON 95, RON 98 so i think from now on i'll spend the extra few dollars and go for the latter two..Along with other valued advice i shall be adding a little extra oil aswell until the oil injection is disconnected and also some metho (to disperse any water)
    thanks again
    regards

The 115 Yamaha 2-Stroke on my last boat loved Optimax, delivering easier starting with less smoke. It also seemed to accelerate better, both low down and in the mid-range. I'm going to treat the 90 Merc I've got now to a belly full of it to see what happens.

    Cheers,
    NICK.

sounds like its fine to trun the higher octane fuel =)
i know that when i used to ride a motorcycle, using a higher octane tended to cause problems to the injectors...running to 'rich'...(not knowing much about the technacalities)...unless your bike was tuned for it...i just assumed that it would be a similar situation...but not from the sound of things....
