SUZUKI RELEASES MOST POWERFUL 4-STROKES
Suzuki’s newest four-cylinder models are setting a new benchmark in 4-stroke power, performance and reliability.
The new 150 hp and 175 hp fuel injected four-stroke outboards are the most powerful four-cylinder outboards ever built by Suzuki Motor Corporation. Slated for introduction later this year, they can be viewed at the upcoming major boat shows.
Suzuki engineers have developed the inline four-cylinder DOHC powerhead with 2867 cc (175 cu.in.) displacement, the largest in the category. This added displacement provides exceptional acceleration and velocity. However, size and weight is no compromise, as these big block displacement motors are designed to be the lightest, most compact 4-strokes of their kind.
The DF175 features continuously variable valve timing. Other advanced features on both models include multi-stage induction and a 32-bit onboard computer which monitors engine sensors and controls the multi-point sequential fuel injection system.
Like Suzuki’s award-winning V6s, the DF150 and DF175 will swing a larger diameter prop than the typical 150-horsepower outboard and feature a more aggressive gear ratio. Both twenty and twenty-five inch shaft lengths will be available to suit the transoms of a wide range of boats. Counter rotation on 25-inch models will also be available for twin engine installations.
Suzuki is proving to be the 4-stroke performance leader and the engine of choice, especially amongst Australia’s commercial operators. Most of south east Queensland Voluntary Marine Rescue (VMR) boats are now powered by Suzuki engines.
The Suzuki 250hp V6’s “power and acceleration with life-dependant reliability” were major factors in VMR Raby Bay’s recent upgrade. “Quick starts and hard running – as well as fuel economy – were all considerations when we chose the Suzukis”
Noosa Blue Water Charters reported a 35% increase in fuel efficiency from their newly fitted Suzuki 4-strokes. During a recent fishing trip with both Cougar Cats, the Suzuki-powered boat used 107 litres, whilst the 2-stroke powered boat used 300. Needless to say, the 2-strokes are soon to be replaced with Suzukis also.
Suzuki’s technologically advanced EFI four-stroke engines were ranked “Highest in customer satisfaction with four-stroke engines in a tie in the U.S.” by J.D. Power and Associates, 2005.
Suzuki outboards are distributed by The Haines Group in Australia.

Does this mean you will have an almost new Suzuki 140 for sale in the next
couple of months? I'm just guessing as to what's on the back of that
secret new boat you're building in the back shed???
