GPS TO SOUNDER
Was wonder if anyone has linked there gps to there sounder, via nmea cable, or by any other means. Was thinking about doing it, but see no purpose for it. Can anyone explain the benifits of this. Can I view the display of the units through my PC.
Also would like to know if the units are linked and you save a waypoint, does the sounder reading attach to the gps mark. Am hoping to eventually download this information to my PC.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: GPS TO SOUNDER
my understanding is that if you have compatible firmware on the 2 units you can scroll back on your path on the sounder then press the waypoint button on the sounder and it calculates the distance back etc and saves the waypoint (backtracked) on the gps. This would only work of course if travelling in a straight line. very handy if cruising and see the interesting bottom formation you just scroll back and presto its there to investigate next time you have time.
