    New E-TEC Evinrude outboards

I am looking at upgrading to a new etec Evinrude 90 HP, does anyone already own one or know someone who owns one and are they happy with it. Curious to know what the fitted price was to?

    G'day Noodles,

I've got a 90 Hp Etec and cant fault them. They are great on fuel (my last trip started from Sandgate - Tangalooma - Cape Moreton - The Sandhills and back home on the northern side of Mud Island and only went through 45 litres of fuel) are extremely quite and dont smell like a service station.

I hear the prices have dropped quite a bit but have no idea what they cost mounted.

The thing that got me was no services for 3 years or 300 hours except for minor things you can do yourself (ie grease the nipples!!! etc...)

I recommend them highly, just be wary of where you buy it from. PM me if you like.

    Cheers

    Re: New E-TEC Evinrude outboards

I have an e-tec 50, and it is great, good on fuel, smooth, quiet and the warrenty & service is the best I have seen, wish it was this good in my working trade.
After 45hr of use, we broke down 10nm south of Cape Cleaveland. Local coast guard had to tow us back, many thanks to them. the problem was two wires had chaffed on the plastic oil tank lower edge, not normaly an issue on a plastic tank, but when one is the starter lead to start relay & the other to the computer, well when they touched, the computer didn't like it much, The computer was replaced within two days, no questions asked and nothing to pay, not even freight. Apart from a little in-convenance that co-insided with windy weather, and a sincere apology from the dealer on behalf of the manufacturer I couldn't ask for more.
Still a fan of this motor, unless it happens again.
PS make sure the wiring is neatly tied back.
