    2 Stroke Oil Ratio ??

Can anyone tell me the correct fuel/oil ratio for a 1996 25hp Johno? Was told by a dealer that it should be mixed @ 25:1 but a few mates tell me they run 50:1

    TIA

    Cheers

Was the dealer smoking something??? 50:1 unless running it in because it has roller bearings the shell type bearings that needed 25:1 went out around 1960 something. How old was this guy .

Re: 2 Stroke Oil Ratio ??

A lot of smaller 2 stroke outboards have a 100 to 1 ratio (actually most of the brands I have looked at, except Tohatsu). Someone told me you are better off running 50 to 1 in them anyway. The reason being that there is nothing mechanically different about them that makes them suited to 100 to 1. It is just the manufacturers concession to the environment and that an engine run on 100 to 1 will show a lot more wear.

In have 25hp Evinrude 96 model manual says 25:1 for run in 50:1 thereafter. Should be the same for you.
