cdma coverage offshore?

does the cdma mobile coverage extend to areas offshore like tempest, wide caloundra, barwon banks, offshore double island?

Was getting coverage at shallow Tempest....marginal at times though. Went out on a marlin boat out of Coffs about 2 months ago & the Skipper was telling me that you can get some sort of "booster" to increase the CDMA signal. His was working fine 50km offshore.

Oh yeah....forgot to mention...I think these "boosters" are illegal in Australia.

my cdma had signal 20km off waddy pt. no external aerial. same 15km or so off pt lookout.

a decent aerial mounted high will help.

Tinny, I can not get coverage at Barwons or Wide Caloundra on my cdma but on one occasion I did get a bit of a signal but could not make the phone call as it cut out. This has been brought up on previous posts and someone had an antenni that he got somewhere that gave a good signal. Look on previous posts.
