I posted this on a ls1 forum and a helpful member led me here.
ok, i thought a few members here might`ve had experience with these boats ,so i thought i would get some advice.
i have between 25-30k to spend on a little bowrider.i have narrowed it down to 3 boats.
quintrex 5.00-5.30m freedom sports 75-90hp outboard
stacer 5.00-5.30 easy rider 75-90hp outboard
sea ray 180 le 135hp inboard
does anyone have any experiences with these boats?
i`ve only ever owned outboards, what`s the fuel usage like on the inboard searay?
i know the fibreglass boats have a smoother ride than ally boats.
i will be doing 7o% cruising/family stuff and 30% fishing.
any positive/negative comments appreciated.
p.s i know quinny/stacer are owned by same company.
Is that sea ray a dedicated bow rider from the states if it is the one I am thinking about no-one will dare to ride up the front in anything more than a ripple without a Kidney belt even then they wont do it twice.
I am sure the other two would have far more accommodating hulls considering where their pedigree stems - us fisherman are tough on those points.
the quinnie has a nicer finish than the stacer but you'll pay for it. A the last boat show the quinnies also had fairly nifty kill tank aka beer & ice tanks under floor between the drivers seat etc.
For the extra cruisin' percentage given the aluminium options I'd go the quinnie
but overall the searay has to have it - a little smaller but if the price is similar & given you want it as a cruising boat go f/glass, & stern drive quality. Remember though its glass so you'll need to respect it.
