How long anchor chain for 18ft?

I use 5.5 - 6m of standard link (No, I did not measure it Mantaray) chain on my 18ft. And just use a reef anchour even in sand. Does not slip.

The trick is to actually let out 3 to 1 of rope so the angle does not lift the chain.

It just sounded funny reading your posts about the finite details of the chain. I realise the differences between 1/4 and 3/8 and that the heavier then the less needed etc etc. I just saw it as a bit amusing because I took it as a given that we would not be talking about excessively light or excessively heavy guage, so was just a discussion on length. And if I said a length without qualifying it with the guage I would get in trouble.

Did not mean to offend if I did. Was not intended to be an aggressive post.
