Merc plumbing prob !

Hi there fishchatties. My 2001 merc 90 4stroke has problems spitting the water out of the tell tail. New impellor fitted and thermostat appears ok after the hot water test. Motor obvously getting hot as water is restricted and is just dribbling outta the telltale.
Any helpful ideas out there ??? I "NEED" to get out fishin'

These late models have a low pressure/high volume impeller, so there is not much pressure pushing water out of that telltale, unlike the old ones that put out around 3 or 4 psi at idle. Try running it, and inserting a weedeater line up the pee-er whilst running. I had the same prob with my brand new Mariner 50 and a bit of gunk came out and she is now fine. If the alarm is not sounding, it is not running too hot, but the indicator should be free.

if you live in an area where there are any sort of wasps around then , i would do what was said in the last post as i had this problem once before cleared the tell-tail out with a bit of wire and ran fine after .
