    Fisher Boats Alloy grades

Anybody have one of these? Would you know the grade of alloy they use, bottom, sides, frames? Any cracking problems?

I've got a 550 Extended Transom (6.1m LOA) centre cab - had it for about 10 months.

Bottom plate and transom on mine are all 5mm. Side plates 4mm. All 5083 H321 Grade.

No cracking problems - or any other problem for that matter! Traded up from a Bruisecraft and I'm not the only one - best move I ever made. Have a chat with Col - I found him to be only too willing to answer all my (stupid) questions through the build and didn't mind me hanging round taking picks etc. Knows his stuff and there seems to be more and more Ausfishers getting into his product. For the money I paid I couldn't have gotten any other new 6m+ boat.

    Mantaray,

They are a great boat. I've got the 600 extended maxi hull (6.6 LOA, and 23 degree deadrise) in a centre cab. No problems as yet, had mine since Dec 2004, just clocked up 100 hrs. Great boat, great ride

My last boat was a Quinny 600. If you want cracks, get one of those

I've got a 4.8m side console. It's the best boat I've had by far. See my prior threads. As for the alloy and construction. They use 5083 grade as said before, this pretty standard with
plate builders but they also use a pulse mig welder. My welders are absolutely perfect and so are all the others I have seen.
I haven't had a sore back since I owned it and I have over 250Hrs on it.

Hi manta ray, I have one built 2000. It was one of their trial boats before they were in full commercial production. 5.5m centre console. It has 980hrs on it.

Has developed two hull cracks where the welds hold the bottom too the stringer. The boat has had much heavy going over the years, but rather the cracks were not there!

I have a 580 maxi centrecab, and have found it to be great!! I have had it for just over 12 months, done 165hrs and it hasnt missed a beat. Its built like a tank, and Col is only to willing to answer any questions you may have. I am actually in the process of selling it to upgrade to a bigger one !!!!

What sort of actual trailer/towing weights involved with something like the 5.5 and 6? Maybe a better indication is what is being used to tow these things?

Took delivery of my 4.5m in late Feb. I chose Fisher because of the quality of the welds and I was able to modify the standard platform and basically customise my rig. A fella I have fished with has a 5.5m with 100l underfloor fuel and I towed it comfortably with my 2.8td Rodeo. Col tows his big beast with his falcon ute.

Mine weighed in at 2380kg brand new, no gear, minimal fuel, on the way home from picking it up. I've probably got an extra 150kg or so than most at this size though due to fridge, big deep cycle battery, solar panel etc....
