Gday first mate,
Whyte island ramp is a good location to launch. It has a 3 lane ramp with a small sand patch on the right side and rocks on the other.the carpark was revamped not so long ago. There is plenty of parking and the council also take down the chains on the chained off area when the ramp is busy to give extra parking space.I have a small tinny and prefer to launch at mid tide as the sandy patch is more exposed giving you more space just incase it is busy to leave your boat and park your car.try it for yourself but all in all a great ramp. if you have a big boat with a high cabin then it can be fun at high tide to get under the bridge. if the boat is too high then you could go right from the ramp and follow the channel that way (i have never been that way though personaly) i havent had any problems with theft or anything from the ramp.
launched there 6 times on weekends over the last few months ....Not had a single issue with too many boaties at all . Quite a good ramp , and the cleaning tables and fresh water hose for engine flushing on site are a good insentive too !
First Mate,
I have used this ramp on several occasions when going out into the bay.
We have gone over to tangalooma from there and it was easy into the river and follow the shipping channel most of the way and then turning off to the wrecks.
Brownies book helps me find my way around to places like this.
We have had no problems with the carpark or the ramp. I think you will find that the area is under constant video servalance.
