need help, poly or quinny

hey lads,im looking around for my first (real)breamin rig and ive narrowed it down to a polycraft 410 challenger,tiller steer,with probably a 40hp e-tec or a quintrex hornet(not-trophy) quite heavily customised to have a large live well,rodlockers walk around decks etc.coupled with probably a 50hp e-tec,after reinforcing the transom.so,it would be great if anyone could shed some light on both boats and any pros and cons there may be.for example,i know how somany ppl have hornets and love them but then i hear of hul cracking problems but i have not heard of many probs with the polys but there isnt a heap of them getting around either if anyone has other suggestions for a breamin boat ibn the 4m-4.4m range i would be happy to hear them.

I guess my opinion is biased as I've ordered a Poly 530, however for your intended use if it was me I'd go the Poly 410

They are super quiet on the water both underway and at rest, and for bream, bass, barra etc stealth is very important. The Poly's don't have the sound of the water slapping the hull at rest that you get in all tinnies, plus they seem to handle chop a lot better when underway. They are also very stable at rest for their size.

I've spoken to a lot of people who own alloy bream/bass boats and are very happy with them, although those of them that have been in a Poly always seem to remark on how quiet it is

Try looking at the 455 poly gives you a offshore option aswell.

I have a Quinnie and am quite happy with it. Millenium hulls ride quite well but if I was to go in again I would certainly consider the Poly option. Big spend so careful choice needed.

Your engine choice is spot on. I've got an e tec 75 on the back end and wouldn't even consider a 4 stroke after running this donk for a couple of years now. They are everything they are built up to be. Wrapt.....

I own a 4.2 quinny very happy with it.Had a good look at the polys at the boat show very impressed. My next boat will be the 455 poly.

If you go the 4.55 poly, Ausfish member 'perko' has one for sale. Set up ready to go pretty much. 4 stroke yammy, sounder, electric motor etc. Not very old and only used a few times in the local dams. Worth a thought. Will save you quite a bit on a new one. Check back in the for sale section or do a search under polycraft in the trading post website.

thanks guys,well there has been very little support for the quinny option so its looking more and more like ill be getting a poly.on the issue of getting a 455-i probably wont get a 455 at this stage because i will be mainly using it for breaming in amongt structure and soem frshwater stuff on the murray etc so a 410 should be sufficent ,considering im on a tight budget i cant really reach to a 455,mainly because of the cost of upgrading the motor 20 odd hp.im still open to ideas etc so please keep them coming,thanks once again,BA.
