Mid range outboard for my boat

Just a quick question to those of you who own or have been in a 5M Hooker Center Console. I am trying to decide on a new outboard. As I am trying to keep the weight under the 140kg mark (110kg ideal) I have the following in mind.

    Yamaha 70 2-str
    Yamaha 60 4-str (high thrust)
    Tohatsu 70 2-str (not tldi)
    Mercury 75 2-str

My biggest fear is that if I go the 60 4-str Yamy is that I will be forever disapointed with the lesser horsepower ... although having a quieter ride??
Mercury might be a bit heavy and chunkier then the others (my opinion only).

    Look forward to any comments.
    Geoff.

hi, not sure on the hooker but i've a stessle centre 5.3 with a 50 johno,
even though hull will plane at 8 knts and cruise at 20 knts
i,d love the extra grunt of the max allowed 70.
on a glassed out day it feels like i,m walking out to the banks.

    hope it helps.

For me a 3 cyl outboard should not be much of a concideration when it comes down to ,fuel usage.

personally go the 75 merc..got a mate with one....he is more than happy..his boat flies..he is not concerned about fuel as he does not do large amounts of Klms.. there are not many dud outboards on the market ATM so it comes down to price...look at how long it will take you to save th $$$ in fuel..then add 4 stroke servicing costs v 2 stroke service costs.....you will have a 2 stroke for a while to come I bet
