    Savage Boats...

There has been alot of threads/posts about Whittley,Haines,Cruise Craft,Allison,Southwind, etc etc the list goes on...but I cant recall much said about the Savage range of glass boats...I work at Rocklea & can see Karee marine from the office...Some of the Savage glass boats look real nice especially the 6.5m Escape..just wondering if anyone has got one or have been in one...I just dont seem to here much about them??

    Re: Savage Boats...

My new boat seems to ride very nice. It was made out of an old 15' Savage mould and lengthened 2 feet. It is a bit bigger then my last cruise craft but I think even if at the same size, it still is a softer, dryer ride. I wouldn't see why they would of changed the hull design in the newer boats.

    Re: Savage Boats...

I came very close to purchasing one, untill they offered me 6k less as a trade in that Cruise craft gave me. I was trying to deal with Karree marine also.
One thing I did notice on the 5.5m Mako it has less fishing room and options that the Cruise craft offered. I did have a 4.8m savage that I traded, a tinny that just bashed a little too much for my liking.
For your info the savage boats are made under license by Whittley and they make approx 100 of these boats per year I was told by Karee marine. My workmate has the mako and is very happy with it, however in saying that I don't believe he has fished from many other boats to make a fair assesment in the ride etc.

    Cheers Ryan..

    Geez James,

working right across the road from a boat yard, Don't reckon I'd last too at work, you'd find me in yard every chance I got #

Savage boats have been around for yonks (pre 60's at least) and are very popular in Victoria, where they are made. I believe they (the Savage Bros) have teamed up with Merc recently (?) and operate out of a new Factory in Melb. I think the Streaker Boats are also made by savage.

My uncle had a savage years ago, he never had a complaint about it that I remember. Nice looking rig too.

Lots of comp up here in Qld with the good 'ol Haines and Cruiseys, plus I guess it's natural to want to buy a 'local' product anyway. Haines' I suppose are the exception, where they are a popular right across Aus, and for good reason too eh... ( geez some old haines owners never go away do they # )

Well it's pouring down again here # # and I 've got a mate's fishing video to edit, so I better get my butt into gear ....

    Cheers,
    Tony #

I have a Savage Surveyor 5.5m with a 140hp V6 Merc on the back. I love it!! It gets me everywhere I need to go, off shore, Morton, and up the rivers on those windy days.

The missus is trying to make me sell it to downsize, but well see......
