40 % better fuel efficiency : Evinrudes

I have a mate looking to buy two brand new Evinrude EC 90Hp's, in SA for his CObra Cat. How much more fuel economical are they - the dealer says 40% (i know its all relative to his current consumption, but thought I would throw the question out anyway)

He presently has two 85hp mercs - Does anyone have any thoughts on using the Ec's especially with regard to fuel economy improvements

Know of a guy up my way replaced his twin 2 stroke 90hp mercs with 2 X e-tec 90's on his cat. The salesman made some incredible claims and upsold him a couple of grand worth of stainless props to boot. End result?- wishes he had of kept the mercs Fuel economy a little better, top end speed a little worse. Bank balance shocking


Also know of a warranty job up my way where the whole top end had to be replaced apparently because of fouled high pressure oil injectors - not enough lubricant getting to where it should. I want to buy a 115 e-tec myself but I am looking into them a bit more because of this. I am also interested in the 115 tohatsu TLDI but they are still not yet available in Australia >
