    Where to buy SALT-X

Although in the Sunday mail from Ian Grant, the link is as follows:

    www.props.com.au
    3899 1501
    Performance Propellors

This is a magic product but as the original manufacturers/owners have aopparently folded, the above link is the new dealer.
    Their prices are absolutely ridiculous!
We used the product on rescue vessels and it was averaging about $2.00 a wash for a seven metre vessel - well worth it!
One litre could be bought retail for $15.00 approximately - now they slug you $37.65!!!!

Doubt many Boaties will part up with that sort of money even though it is a great way of getting salt off.

    pinkpanther,

I was looking for salt-x as I have been using it and like it. I did a 'google' search - a whole lot of sites came up including a lot of fishing and diving sites where they compared salt-x with other brands and did comparison tests along with bicarb in water and laundry liquid in water.

End result, I didn't buy any more salt-x.

Just out of curiosity, what is your preffered method of removing salt now?

An old fisho told me that Morning fresh is the only detergent that dissolves salt well , so i started to use it and seems to work well for me!

    G'day
When washing your boats with detergents... be careful that it's not also stripping the wax. CT18 does this but any quality eash n wax should not.

Dead set do you run dishwashing liquid through your motor?do you add it to a big bucket of water and run the leg in that? or am i looking kind of stupid now... is only for external surfaces. As blackend has already said, dishy liquid will strip the wax off your outer surfaces real quick.

Sounds like a whole lot of froth and bubble.

Boz, heaps of fresh water, a good quality car wash and everything prone to corrosion gets a dose of the old lanox. I often go from the boat ramp straight to Car Lovers and give the boat a good soak in the soapy stuff and then high pressure wash the boat and trailer down with a fresh water rinse. I HATE SALT AND CORROSION >

The dive sites I logged onto all recommended laundry liquid to clean up their dive gear and my experiments with bicarb and water seems to work just as well on my fishing reels and gear as the salt-x did. If you want to get really tricky, make up a bicarb and water solution, put your reels in and then add a cup of cheap vinegar - it'll fizz up and really get the salt off.

I use truck-wash in the Karcher ($20 for 5 litres). 15 minutes and the whole boat is squeeky clean and not a trace of salt. I only wish that I had bought a Karcher years ago.

What attachment do you have on the Karcher to put the wash in? Or does the Karcher allow you to put the wash into it?

I got the Karcher from Super Cheap Auto's. For some reason you can only get this model from them. It was about $247. The bottle that has the detergent in is part of the Karcher. To put it into soap mode you just take the high pressure lance off, the washer goes into low pressure mode and out comes the mixed soap. Once the boat is all soaped up I hit it with the high pressure. Just got to be a bit carefull with transfers on the engine and side of the boat. I back off the distance a bit. Hope this helps
