Hi guys, would like your opinion on it rough water performance.
98 model for $38,500. I am pretty serious about it but looking for some feedback from you guys.
Positive and negitive Please..

I've heard they are a little rocky when resting but as a sea going boat, nothing but excellent reports. Cr@p on pussies in any seas.

The 150 merc. What is it. Efi, Opti, Carb, 4 stroke? Could be a little bit under powered if you want to drag other boats off seriously

I have a brother who takes 1 from port something in Victoria to Flinders Island. Yep, half way to tassie but they have a 225 on it from memory and it will do 100 km/hr on good water and they hammer it in the rough too.

Just what i heard , not what i've seen..

Havn't been in one of those yet but the Haines series of boats has always been known for their ability to handle rough water about as well
any other boat in their class.
In reality it all comes down to the skipper as what these boats won't handle you really dont want to be in anyway.

If you like the boat and it suites your needs then go ahead, I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

Seriously though the Haines is a very good boat and the crew will give up long before the boat will. 150hp would push it along o.k but why not take it for a run and see what you think, I mean do you just want a fisher a cruiser a skier or a bit of all of it? Keep this in mind when you take it for a drive

I have to say after giving it the eye, not bad but the placement of the hatch / anchor well / bowsprite I need to have arms 2m long or unzip the hood and climb over the screen and down the sloping deck n aaaaaa no thanks..
So I have decided against it. I would require a elect anchor winch , I like the rough stuff for fishing and need safe access.
A bit disappinted about the layout / design of this, on what their web -site they say they put a lot of thought into their design.
I would say Haines Hunter is better thought out than the Haines Signature in the 1998 vintage.

I have to agree the front is a bit of a pain in the bum, I like the look of the newer sig's 542F/600F etc with a bit of a walk round on them though.

Why don't you guys anchor from the cockpit using a Nally tub or similar, a float and a clip? No need to worry about access to the front then.

have you had a look at the HSig 600 RF? They have a walk through screen and front hatch, no need to bend down thru the cabin.

Hi Smithy, yea I know of them but I cannot stand the mess that would created it bad enough with the Para anchor on the floor when moving from spot to spot. and when I have a anchor locker that a crappy design would bug me. Clear decks for when the big ones dragged in.
