    Glass's Guide for Boat Evaluation

    Glass's Guide for Boat Evaluation.

    Hi all,

Just reading my GIO Boat insurance details and there was a one liner and I quote,

“The most we will pay is the insured value or market value which ever is cheapest”

I spoke to the Rep and he said that they would get the boat assessed and if it was over insured then they would only payout the true replacement value.

I then asked how they “valuated” the boat and the reply was they would use the Glass’s Guide as a start.

My question is does anybody have a current copy.

I think if you go to some of the car sites such as carpoint.com.au or carsguide.com.au look under valuation links they have a contact or a section to download the value for your car or boat. To do this it does cost $$$ hope this helps

    Hey Impulse,

If you find someone with a copy, I am willing to pay to get one also, just not the $300 odd they charge new.

PM me if you get hold of a copy.

    Regards

most of your boat dealerships will help you out if your just chasing a price detail,,, or contact the insurer direct,,, items that are added to your vessel increase the value, but you must disclose them,, hence slightly higher premium,,if you dont, then you will only get current market value,,, dont 4get you can also obtain quotes for market and agreed values much the same as cars,,, insurance co's are there to protect your assett and also to protect there back pocket if ya know what i mean,,, you dont hear to many tales about a refund being handed back if you have a vessel/car overinsured and your paying to much in premiums,,,most people just change to a cheaper cover/insurer,,

true story, i know that its going off the topic a bit,, but i know someone that had home contents cover for 75k,, he had a breakin and lost his dvd collection, due to the collection not being disclosed, and more to the point, not being insured as a SET/COLLECTION, the insurer was bound not to pay,,,,undisclosure,, he was with them for 8 years,,,
    can it get any better??????????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgG_TxEPaQE
