Thread: Fishing Kayaks

    Fishing Kayaks

There is a multitude of advice and options out there. Where I am located there isnt the ability to talk to actual users so I am requesting some input.

I am looking for a craft which will enable access to skinny freshwater to increase my options to chase bass. To get private land access to streams is becoming nigh impossible and vegetation cover makes bank fishing very restricted.

Want something thats light, tuff and maybe compatable to mounting a very small electric.

Anyone thats been there done that opinions accepted gratefully.

    Hi Louie,

Have a look at the Hobie kyaks. Great fishing but a little unusual in that they have a pedal drive. This works fantastically well as you have your hands free to fish and it can actually get along faster than all but the best and fittest paddlers. Go to the web site for Sunstate Hobie up at Cooroy http://www.sunstatehobie.com.au. That's where we bought ours and Mal is a terrific guy. He is also a very keen fisherman and has proven the kyaks for it.

There is also a web site in the US specifically for Kyak Fishing http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/ which has a lot of information though obviously a bit US centric.

    Hope that helps.

    Tim.
