If your boat is on a steep decline is the fuel gauge accurate or has the boat have to be level to get the accurate reading.

... i only work to support my fishing addiction.....
Hey Troy,
Jasons right, Gotta be level to show close to accurate.
Fuel gauges in boats should only be used as a guide,
I usually carry a spare 10 or 20 ltr jerry of fuel,
sometimes 2 x 20's, depending on the trip..
Most of the blokes I've towed back to the ramp have
either run out of fuel, or have flattened the battery,
or both.
Troy,
My fuel gauge reads approx 1/8 to 1/4 either way..depends how it feels I think...
I have just ordered a fuel flowmeter that gets hooked direct to my Navman GPS.
It tells you everything you want to know about your fuel consumption, litres used, litres left how far you can travel at certain speeds etc etc.
It has always been my biggest fear ..running out of fuel..

Mate it has to be level to read correctly. It is like the fuel gauge in your car it goes up and down when you go up and down hills.
Always carry spare fuel you don't want to run out of fuel in the water
It's all part of the fishing experience
