Oh, that boat, nice unit Tim, where do you usually put out from?
I have a poly front runner with a 50hp honda that cavitates a lot if I make a moderately sharp turn. The motor is set very low and I think I need to get it raised as the anti-cavitation plate is about 4inches under water and honda say 0-2 inches. Anyone care to comment?

Roy, that sounds way too low. The manufacturer (of the boat) recommends for the 4.1 that the cavitation plate should be roughly level with (or 10mm above) the bottom of the boat (not the keel). I think yours is probably a 4.5 - but it still seems too low. Is the guy who put your motor on a regular agent for Polycraft? You probably should have a chat to Steve Cooper. He will set you straight.

I had a fair bit of trouble stopping mine (tiller steer 40HP 4st Suzi) from porpoising when I was just one-up. But the addition of a foil, putting a bit of weight forward, and the fact that I have electric trim and tilt has solved my problems and I'm now a very happy camper.

Hope this is of some help. I know how frustrating it is when your boat is not functioning up to expectations.

Hope we haven't hijacked your post too much Tim - if so , sorry
