You are indeed being thorough with your problem Sam and I would hope you are on the right track . I have worked with the coast guard and they had a CAV filters fitted to there boats and they ran without fault so whether they had any problems when they were first fitted is a mystery . All I can say is good luck and I hope all your work will fix your problem .

I have had a few problems with a 150 carby johno which caved in the CAV filter, I changed it to a racor and fixrd the problem. The V6 johno's have a vaccum alarm which was sounding all the time at high speed, dropped off at cruising speed and got worst as it got older
