water test new stacer 489 today

i took a new 489 stacer runabout for test run today. it had a 75hp 2stroke merc on the back. put in at sundale, and headed up towards seaway. nice easy run up to seaway, then hit some real rough water. wind was about 15+ and wet. i was very impressed the way it went. once we got past the 6kn zone i gave it some, about 3000 and jumped straight out. climed up to 5000 rev and was doing 35mph. then hit the open water in seaway and had to drop back to 3000, as the water was going everywhich way, and good 2ft rought as chop. it handled it well. i just wasnt use to triming the motor, but noticed a difference when trimmed out. the boat was very steady. plenty grunt with 75hp. steering was tight but dealer said it would get free with little use. it did get little easy when trimmed. havnt decided yet but looks like i will do the deal. what do other people think. this is the latest model with new flotation.

    cheers

    Hey Greg

Sound like an interesting test. Good weather for a try out. It was bucketing down and blowing whitecaps all the way from Marina Mirage when i did my test. Looking sure is half the fun. Heres some more to look at.
    Cheers

Was it the Stacer Sea King you tested? That extra high windscreen should give you a dryer ride too. Sleek appearance of the hull, nice looking boat.

Just curious Greg, will you pay your deposit by internet transfer?

Good luck with the new rig Greg,
When I was looking it was scary ...too many options
i decided on the FORMOSA 480 Runabout..absolutely no regrets
a lot different than my old stacer 444 kingray centre console as far as ride goes because your a lot more forward .....i like it...hope to see you out there one day soon....4-6 weeks i guess..mine took 6 weeks as well...its worth the wait...
    Murks
