    Re: Allison 5

brrbear, shame about your experience with an allison but at least you are both happy now. I agree with Dale that a 6m will ride better than a 5m but in the end it is your choice and budget you have to match.

I bought mine after speaking to a mate who is a pro fisherman, he works everyday in all sorts of seas and has had quite a few boats to his name. I don't want to start anything on which boat is the best but he did say for strength and reliability he would never go past an Allison, Yalta, Haines and steber. Just my bit.

Hows the boat hunting going anyway coontakinta? Regards Scott

hi dale not trying to compare it to a 6 meter the milligan is a 5.25. the comment on the larger allisons is heresay not from personal experience on my part hope that clarifys for u. I feel from his post he is asking about the 5m. and most replys are on the 195

    hi smithy

i own a 5meter 4mill plate boat if the seas were sloppy we left the fisherman in the garage and took mine.If the seas were like the ones in ur whale pic shots the fisherman went for a run being faster. These days the 35k plate stays in the shed most of the time and the $7k milligan gets used as its a better all round boat imo

what I'm trying to do is let our friend know who asked the questions is I feel there are much better options for his fathers money imo.

We tryed different things to improve the fisherman 5m .carpeted the front section to try and stop the echo when pounding.lined the front hatches.the boat just diddn't do it for us traveling wise.On the good side but, the boat looked good had ample room good steering position fairly dry .
    hope this helps you Coonatinka

    Hey Coontakinta

if you get a chance check out the Yalta allrounder ( about 5.5 metres ) you can pick one up for around 30 with a 115 two stroke. A few ausfishers have these and the larger 20 footer and seem pretty happy Smiley.

    happy hunting
