shane, i just checked with racq and she told me towing outside the state was ok . boat whilst being towed was covered but no liability whislt being towed , but the car insurance should cover that

    cheers

    Re: boat insurance

suncorp is boat covered while being towed and liability for the same , also covered for interstate .
they were cheaper than racq for a 85k boat with a discount for being a member of the morton bay boat club , sounded alright and im told the assesors are better to deal with than others around

    Re: boat insurance

    Hi,

Ian and I are with Club Marine and we have not had any problems with them. When we move interstate with work it is just an easy phone call to change the address. We have had to claim once this year and had no problems if anything they surprised us in how quick they were. And yes they cover the "dill factor".

Hi guys. Haven't seen any mention of Nautilus. Just insured my boat with them & was happy with the policy & premium. The guys that set up Nautilus are ex Club Marine & have modelled their policy on Club's but I found them to be cheaper.

One thing you have to watch out for is "agreed value". You may have agreed value on your boat but you may find that this only applies for a total loss (ie the whole caboose boat motor trailer etc) If you pick up a plastic bag & cook your motor they will only pay "market value" which may be a whole lot less. Nautilus have agreed value on boat, motor, trailer & in my case trolling motor.

    Re: boat insurance

I am with suncorp. I have the house and contents with them and a few other things, I got a good discount on the policy and it covers the lot. I rang them 2 days before I picked up the boat and got all the info about the policy that i could. I wasnt going to pickup the boat without any insurance on it. The boat cost $9000 which is not a lot of money for a boat these days but for me it is a lot of money.

Just changed to RACQ for $10,000 it is $25.00 a month. Happy with that some place $30-$40 a month.

    Re: boat insurance

i have a 75hp motor and my boat is rated 55hp-will it void the insurance-when i rang them about their owerpowering clause i was told if transport doesnt have a problem i.e it is registerd neither do we.Apparently they said its like mags on a car -if they know about it , it is covered.
i would hate to make a claim and get knocked back and i would REALLY hate to be wasting my money on pointless premiums if they are going to reject any claim on the overpowering basis.

    any advice

    Re: boat insurance

i would imagine transport will have a probelm with it , a bit like sticking a v8 in a corrolla without a engineers cert . the other way is check with the boat manufacter and see if they will increase the hull rating as these days the new engines are lighter .

insurance will screw you over if they have half a chance .

im still pissed off about them
