has anyone made up their own outriggers- i was thinking of buying the brackets and using surf fod blanks for the poles.Brought ones seem really expensive.
I have heard of a few guys doing this but they wont be as stiff as proper poles. You would have to find the longest surf rod blank you can and cut a heap of the tip.
Try ringing some of the big suppliers that sell outriggers - they often have factory seconds for sale. I picked up some poles for 1/2 price.
