hi i was wanting to get some more thoughts on weather i should spend money on a new yammy 60 4 stroke on my boat or buy another boat. it is a 4.58 streaker cuddy and is a very good boat for fishing out of mooloolaba
G'day
Well, your call really. A new 4stroke donk will only help resale if you do decide to move it on. Sounds to me you're happy with the boat and there seems no reason to upgrade. If that is the case, go on and add the new engine.
Dave
the only i want to re power is to get some weight of the back (90v4 evenrude 89 mod ) that is still very good but a little to heavy and has that lovley 2 stroke smell we all grew to hate .
G'day
ok, so the only reason would be weight, and possibly economy? Check your weights of both motors to see if you are going to gain enough of a reduction to make it viable. secondly... going from a 2stroke 90 to a 4 stroke 60 is a pretty big power/torque reduction. Would you be happy with this much horsepower missing?
Dave
i think so i only fish in the ocean and only run at 18 knts i should be able to do that easy .
I rang the streaker factory and was told that the boat i have come standard with a 60 yamaha 4 stroke or 70 2stroke
G'day
I agree with bayside on this one. Minimum reccomended power is just that, and often is set too low for any kind of performance.
Murks, dont forget he has a streaker, they're a 'glass boat so a bit heavier than the formosa. Point being, I think a 60 etec would not be sufficient either.
