Hey Heath, with the price of the LED replacement bulbs,wouldnt you be better to buy a new set of sealed LED nav lights,for $39 a set ( On Special)

The replacement BA9s LED bulbs cost me $4.99 for both delivered Just make sure you get the wide angle ones as the normal ones throw the light upward and are dull once you put them in. Wide angle ones throw the light out horizontally like a normal incandescant bulb.

i was told by a boat Manufacturer that led nav lights are considered illegal by transport for being not bright enough . that same Manufacturer will only fit the old style and the customer can fit led after they take delivery .

find this hard to believe my have the apperance of being considerably brighter than the replaced ronstans but I havn't put a light meter on them.

I think this dealer is pulling your leg, he probably gets the traditional type cheaper or he has heaps in stock he needs to offload. led navigation lights are as good if not brighter than using bulbs. When you drive down the street you will notice that traffic lights are now fitted with led's. You will notice that they are brighter than the bulbs. Also various new cars now use them as brake lights. Not all led's have the same brightness though he may be comparing to some inferior types.

no ones pulling my leg , i wanted led nav lights on my new cruise craft and that was the reply and cost was not the factor .

im sure the boys at maritime could answer that question
