Is it Mad Turk's one with the Volvo diesel?

Peronally I like the layout of them but have never been in one. Currently running a 702 Signature.

    Lol.

Yes it is. Last seen on Ebay!

I had one a few years ago, like Turks with a Mercruiser 135hp.

Nice boat which I would recommend. My Mercruiser was a tad underpowered, but the boat performed fairly well. You will get your feet wet standing in the back corner at rest, as the self drainers are not perfect, and do wet the cockpit floor.

I have owned a number of boats, and would recommend a Southwind SF20 over the 575. I have owned two and they perform awesomely, can't praise their performance at all.

Ask specific questions and I will be happy to help.

    Regards

The SF20 was released in 1991 and finished production in 1998 (replaced by SF655).
Which model/year do believe is the best?

    Hey Jonah,

They both use the same hull, the SF/R20 (91-98), and the SF655 (98-now). The deck is different.

I personally prefer the SF20, as its styling and functionality of walk through screen appeal to me better.

The performance when matched to a 175/200 is awesome, truly performance boat not just fishing boat. Soft riding, dry, and confidence building.

I am told the higher and heavier deck on the SF655 makes the hull lose some of its sparkle. But you couldn't go wrong with either.

You will buy an SF20 for the same if not less money today than the 575F of the same year.

Thanks mate, but I might opt for a true cabin boat, especially when overnighting.

And I would really like a Haines, not that I've had one before.

Hey - Marty from the Bool, are you online?

    Cheers

    Hey Jonah,

I have a Cruise Craft 575 Outsider that i have been very happy with. I have recently seen a couple from mid 90's models going for reasonable $. I think they were called a 550 then.

    happy hunting

The SF20 is a true cabin boat. Im 6ft and spent many happy nights sleeping aboard.

It has a walk through windscreen, with an opening top deck, allowing access to the bow for anchoring from within the cabin. It's an excellent and rare set up.

    Darren,

Oh well on that basis I will look out for one.

What about porta potty provision? Is this still possible given the walk through cabin?

Alex - I also like the Crusie Craft outsider but dont see many in Vic. An old mates got a 550 and its a great boat, but probably need something a bit bigger (4 kids).

If either of you hear of any in quality condition and good price, feel free to let me know.
I've just sold an old Yalta Offshore 4.57m all 1985 package.
    Time to upgrade.

    Cheers Guys

    Hey Jonah,

Most SF20's have provision for or do have a porta potti fitted.

My old SF20 is in Trade a boat this month, page 226. I dont own it anymore, and he's asking what I sold it for, $29990. It's not on boatpoint now so may be sold. It was a nice boat.

That one is in Willamstown Victoria, and in good nick. Maybe a tad expensive though.

There is another on tradingpost for $25500 in Sydney. Don't know the condition though.

My old 575F was for sale again recently also for $29990. It too has gone so i'd say it's sold.

    Regards

    Re: Haines 575F

    Darren,

You are right, these are great looking boats. Good size too.
I am now keen to find one.
Dollars might be an issue. I'm only looking to spend $25k and just missed a '97' 575F and '97' 560F at this price.
The Williamstown boat looks great, but outside the budget.
I will check the sydney trading post.
Also a 1994 model in Adelaide for $27,500 seems basic though, no canopy etc.
What year was your old SF20?

    Hey,

I've owned two over the years.

A 92 model, and the later one which was just sold again was a 96 model.

I've seen pics of the one in Sydney and it looks pretty good.

    Regards

    Hey Jonah,

I've got a mate with buying one in mind, so got the pics for him.

If your interested call the owner and see if it's still available.

    Regards

    Darren
