There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Boy-z - pm daintreeboy - his brother has a 6 m Polycraft Centre Console - has a great canopy on it - mounted off the console and two centre poles at the back (with cutting board etc) - still retain the fishability but plenty of shade. he might be able to give you more details.

check out Daintreeboys report on Christening his saltiga in the offshore reports - it has a couple of pictures that give a little bit of detail.

Guys if it helps I have a 5.30 Poly Centre Console and I have made my own Targa Top / Canopy.
    Details are as follows
Mounts off Console.... been there a year now and works a treat.
Made from 600 dollars worth of 32mm stailess marine grade tube.
Has a marine blue canvas top on it now and looks a treat.
The BIAS one doesnt fit the poly console it is to narrow.... i purchased one and returned it.
    Heres a couple of pics:

    Re: Centre Console Conopy

Mate ... My throttle controls are on the upper right hand side as per the pic and no they were no removed at all in the fitting of the targa.
My boat was the second CC of the line and did not come with the grab rail you are talking about on the console (nor did I pay for one).
Im on the northside of Brissy, if your in the area drop around for a look any time.
