    aluminium fixed to fibreglass



    is there any problem with fixing aluminium plate onto fibreglass.

    im putting a baitboard on and im using ali plate as mounting material

    just thought there might be a corosion problem .

    i dont really know was considering rubber gasket for sealing also

    If your using Ally plate then Stainless steel screws, or bolts with nylon lock nuts be better, to mount it.
    Then your going to have a corosion problem.

    It will be that white salty looking stuff thats hard to get off.

    Best use Stainless all round.

    mate if there was a problem there would be no alum # boats and we all use s/s fittings cheers

    Sorry to offend.
    Don't get me wrong there will be no problem, structually, for some time.
    But once you mix a more knoble metal SS, to a less knoble metal Ally.

    There will be corosion in the less knoble metal, in time.

    but ill be using stainless bolts to secure the base plate
