    Hi Geoff,

I hope you didn't cop too much damage from Larry.... we're seeing some pretty devastated properties through the media

There have been no reports because we have been in limbo waiting for the supply of Patch Booster. Have taken the chance to catch up on some other things we've been neglecting during the rebuild.

Also I am not getting the emails that let me know someone has posted a reply on this thread

    Update -

Day 66 - After being told daily by Supplier #1 that the patch booster would arrive "tomorrow", we gave up and ordered it through Supplier #2.

Day 67 - Supplier #1 rang to tell me their order has finally arrived.... "Too late!" she cried.

Day 68 - Drove to Brisbane to pick up the Patch Booster from Supplier #2

Day 69 - Finally it is the day to spray the gelcoat on the hull! All systems ready to go... first pot mixed and sprayed... second pot mixed and sprayed... and then the day ended! The patch booster had turned into a jelly like mush Our fibreglassing mate can't believe it, never seen anything like it in all his years of working with the stuff. He is going to take up our cause with Supplier #2.

Where am I going on Monday? Back to Supplier #1 to eat crow!

wheres the picies of the stuff ups bev and what not to do.
One of my stuff ups first time around was I asked my off sider to mix the flowcoat (sitting in measured amounts with the measured cataysl next to each pot), I flow coat the whole inside of the boat while offsider passed me the pots, heres me thinking that I must have got the mix near perfect as it wasnt going off in the pot and going on sooo nice. Jumped outa the boat and straight in for a stubbie or 2, come back about 3 hours later to check and find it still wet, not even stick. WTF, looks over at the mixing bench and there sits my little pots of catayls. He had only stirred it and not mixed it.
After a lot of ph calls to find a solution (short of washing it all out with acetone) none forthcoming.
I made an excetive desicion to make a hot brew of flowcoat and redo it, dryed after about 24hrs
    cheers

With all the extacy now comes the pain. It seems that the story was going all too well. Sorry to hear about both problems with the Gelcoat and Flowcoat problems.

I hope things look up from here and the rest of the project Flows better towards the final outcome.

No stuff ups to take pics of... what went on the hull looked great It was only what was still in the tin that turned to a jelly mush.

Ross spent the day sanding yesterday to prepare for the next attempt at gelcoating.

Great thinking on your part with how to fix your offsiders stuff up with the flowcoat

    Bev and Ross

I blame you guys for itching like crazy this morning. Hardly slept last night.

Took the boat out over the weekend to have a "quick look". Found soft decking underneath the spare fuel tanks.
Drilled a 20 mm inspection hole inside this compartment to have a look at what is going on inside there...... Should not have done that. Got the jigsaw out and ripped everything up. The plywood was slimy that is how rotten it was. (The stringers are sound, thank goodness for that.)

Needless to say, the wife got home last night with a garage full of slimy delaminated plywood lying everywhere. She just stood there and shook her head.

The two compartments have to be rebuilt.......... with FIBER GLASS!!!

If this is how much I will be itching just ripping the stuff out, then I definately do not want to find out how much I will be itching when working with the raw material. The boat is booked in at the "boat hospital" for some minor cosmetic surgical procedures in two days time. Sorry guys, but there is no way that I am willing to be itching like this for a week.

Best of luck with your project and keep us posted please.

    Regards

    Wessel aka Camomile Lotion
