Motor decision "whichway?"

Just wondering which way you decided to go on your motor choice whichway. Apologies for the lack of respect others showed on your previous post where ever it went, I should of known they hadn't changed their childish ways. Hopefully you make the right decision for yourself and it works out sweet on the weighbridge for you.

Still thinking - most likely to get trailer in the next couple of weeks. If the weight is OK, will be fairly keen on the suzuki 175.

Just on the suzuki 175, is it essentially the same at the 150 up to 4000rpm when the vvti takes over. So, does this mean that the fuel consumption and general performance for the 175 and 150 will be the same up to about 4000 rpm.

whichway infact the vvt on the 175 starts at 2000rpm
at speed for speed eg 15 knots vs 15 knots the 175 will be more fuel efficiant than the 150 hp due to pulling less rpm
but at rpm vs rpm the 175 will use more fuel but going faster

Kitty cat, what do you base these assumptions on speed and fuel usage. both the 150 and the 175 have the same gear ratios so at 15 knots there both pulling the same rpm unless there propped differently

If you are set on Suzuki, why not buy the real engine, instead of the jap copy, buy the engine its based on, the Johnson.

That way you will have a better engine, better support, more readily available parts, and a network of dealers who have been in Australia for years, not like green suzuki copies.

Ummm I think you might have that bass ackwards Jack

e.g. The 115hp Suzuki is based on the engine block from a Suzuki Vitara (or is that a (Johnson Vitara?)

How about some facts before you get out of hand.

Suzuki supply Johnson 4-stroke engines. Johnson buy the Suzuki's and paint them white when they build them.

I was outboard shopping for a good mate of mine and the Johnson dealer i was talking to said that "Johnson no longer have the Suzukis any more, they are only selling what stock is left and they will only sell 2-strokes from now on"

Maybe now when your doing your show and tell, you will have your facts straight.

I just got me self a nice new shiny Yamaha 150 4 stroke 2007 model for my 6 mtr glass swift craft explorer. Plenty of push and best economy i get is 190 k's from my 100 ltr tank ( 1.8 - 2.0 k's/ltr @ 3500 - 4200 rpm). A little noisier than most 4 strokes because mine is sitting on a 2 foot aluminium pod instead of the transom. But i can get use to it. Just got it's first 10 hour service. Weather up here is looking good.

As other have said Jack you got this the wrong way round! But in general if i had the choice of an American designed and built engine or the Japanese design and built engine i'm going Japanese every single time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When it comes to engine technology they are simply light years in front of the yanks and much more reliable as well
