I'm back and here's the board. It's cutting surface is about 700 X 310mm. It has knife or whatever storage to the rear and two rod holders set at 60 degrees just incase of trawling a spinner/lure.
just have to go to the butcher who said he had some old cutting boards and away we go. Ooh, there's two knurled bolts I made that screw into the front of the board to hold the cutting board down just in case
It sits in 2 rod holders already in the transom with a couple of tapered bushes that go over the posts and jam against the sides of the existing rod holders just to keep things nice and tight.

Forgot to mention there's a draining channel in the front with a pipe going out towards the back. It just needs a bit of hose shoved on to get all the muck into the water instead of in the engine well #
It aint going to break easy. It's all 3mm plate #

mines got a 200mm deep drain at the back, and a big storage tray underneath.
i think you will find aluminium will be easier to get one built in. a friend of mine has made them in glass before (shape up 75mm thick foam, glass over, dig out foam when glass goes hard), but he's a professional glasser (moved to sydney now) and knows what he's doing. any alloy fab shop will be able to make one for you.

I know this is a very budget model but I only have a punt so it needed to be removable and as I do 90% lure fishing I don't use it much.

The knives just slot in, all the blood and guts drain over the side througfh the drain holes and the board is a $4.95 bucket board from K-mart

    Re: built your own baitboard?

I can thgrow all my bait in the area around the main cutting board and the large space on the boat side allow for my hands when cutting.

And finally, with the cutting board removed, notice the twon round lugs that slot into two holes on the underside of the bucket board.
Like I said, Home brand, at a total price of $4.95 ( I had all the other gear) it does the job.......The surrounding timber frame is hung down over the main ply shelf to provide a drip mould. Sean

    Re: built your own baitboard?

I finished mine on the weekend.

I had some condition I wanted to keep and that was I dodn't want to modify the boat in any way ie drilling, holes, brackets etc so it can be removed to keep the original layout.

It works well as i need to bleed a 65cm Sambo on Sat and it held up well.
