1 Tank or 2?

I am currently in the process of looking at increasing the fuel capacity of my Haines Hunter 580C. It currently has a 120Lt tank (I think), but I would like to be able to carry around the 200 -220 lt. Am I better off removing the tank and replacing it with a bigger tank or should I keep the existing tank and add a seperate 80-110lt tank? Also if do add a seperate tank should I plumb it into the existing tank or keep it entirely seperate i.e. add another filler.

Your thought are geratly appreciated.

Hey playdo, Ive got a 5.2M haines, it has a 100L main tank and a 50L tank thats permanantly mounted between the bunks. They both have their own fillers and the lines go to the same fuel filter. The filter has two inlets and I have put a tap on each inlet so I can run off which ever tank I like. I generally run off the main because even if I forget to keep an eye on the fuel level and run out, I know there is enough in the smaller tank to get me home. Maybe you could replace the existing underfloor tank with a 200L and fit a smaller 50L 'reserve' tank.

I would install a seperate tank. Plumbing should be seperate up to the filter, but that is open for discussion. When you have a spare system that serves as a backup, do you really want to run your fuel lines through a contaminated filter?

Valid point wessel, but I would rather just carry a spare cartridge for the filter than mount a second filter. Space is allready at a premium so i try not to mount anything that is not needed, but good point just the same.
