Chris,
the ruhle pumps are totally different than the Johno ones so NO it wont fit

my baittank pump stopped pumping after getting choccas with ribbon weed - after I 'd cleared the system (and decided to put a screen over the intake) i went to run it and it didn't run - burnt out i thought.
When i got inside the pod under the floor of the boat to remove it I popped it out of the cartridge and just before cutting the connections decided to give it a spin and BANG - it worked and has continued to work this weekend - but i dare say its on its way out....
my question - will a Ruhl motor(pump) cartidge fit inside the johnson housing ? - i've heard ruhl are better than johnson.
the reason i ask is it will be a bugger to remove the cartridge as its inside the pod, under the floor. I would simply replace with another johnson if a ruhl won't match.

I have replaced 2 failed Ruhl's with cheapies.
The cheapies haven't failed yet so I myself would go the johnson.
The ruhl pump is smaller so no! won't fit the johnson retainer.
But it's only 2 screws, no big deal.
A marriage licence should be like your fishing licence!
Expires every year and you get a 3 day pass when you go interstate.
Stay with the Johnson ...
Rule are good, but Johnson are better in my opinion.
I have replaced a number of Rule with Johnson and have never had a warranty claim on Johnson.

All the pumps seize up and amasing how many get going with a spin.
The best thing to do to stop this is to give them a run with some fresh water to get rid of the salt/crap build up.
thanks for the feedback guys - sounds like I won't need to pull the rear deck up - i'll stick with johnson.
I have a ruhl to run my bait tank, and a johnson in the bilge
Both have run sweet and continue to do so.
So really i suppose i can only say good things about both brands....
