I have heard a few comments regarding new motors about them loosening up after a certain run in period and that revs and top end speed can increase.
My question is how many hours before a new engine is considered to be loosened up? and what sort of increase can you expect. My engine is Mercury 60hp 4st and I have done 35 hours so far. I think it may be marginally better but nothing to write home about
cheers

Yammy 225 4/stroke 350 hrs have seen a definate improvement. Power & fuel.
I was told my Merc 115 4 stroke would need 100 hours before she opened up and settles. 100 hours is also a major service schedule. Sad thing is I ain't got the time to get the hours up
Not enough time in the day, to many spots to fish!
