On behalf of a mate of mine he is after some advice on which way to go.
I have a 565 haines hunter, Just looking to buy a anchor which is best suited for shoals and the rubblly bottom near reefs edge of the coast of townsville. ( not on the reef but close to it )
I've been using just a reef pick, but having trouble hooking up.
I have around 5M of chain and fish in around 100FT of water.
Which anchor is best suited Sarca vs Plough anchor
i ended up giving the sacra a miss and stuck with a lead filled reef pick and a plough anchor , 10 metres of chain for the plough and 5 mtr on the reef pick and that is on a 6.25 mtr boat
Hey robbo I am from Townsville & had the same problem hooking up when not right on the reef. I ended up getting a Mooloolaba pick & never looked back. Xmas eve we were at Salamander in about 20 knott winds & hooked up first go.
They are also cheaper than a plow or sarca
robo
i have a moolaba pick at home you can buy off me
i have changed to a no.2 sarga with the proper sarga bow rollar (not cheap $400.00) so i can leave it out the front of the boat without having to put it in the anchor well everytime.
both work really well just didnt like the sharpness of the moolaba pick
