Shane - I took the boat out yesterday and checked that the WOT revs are 5000 like I thought. Spoke to my dealer today who agreed that there seems to be some inconsistencies with the published ranges. He says he is going to get back to me about that.

Mate, I suspect that to achieve the optimum rev range required for the Etec you will need to drop your prop size down to 17in or possibly even a 15in.
On the issue of your reversing problem, during a testing of another Etec, I did notice that steering in reverse at low revs was an issue. By increasing the revs whilst in reverse the steering response was greatly improved.
