    First Trout

Just got back from a trip to Northern NSW, fished and stayed at Uncle Billy's Retreat http://www.unclebillys.com.au a magnificent place to stay and fish.

We were down there to do some filming so I only got to fish for a few minutes here and there.

Had never fished for trout before, luckily I was in good company, Harro, Nugget and Shaun Ash. These guys know their stuff when it comes to fishing for trout, both with lure and fly. Thanks guys, appreciate the help and knowledge you passed on.

Armed with a rod, reel and lure borrowed from Harro I had a few casts when time permitted and was rewarded with my first ever Trout.

Here's a pic of the master with one of many caught

Touchy, by no means did I outgun anyone, I only caught one fish, they caught plenty more.

Lordy, was the only pics I managed to get on the digital, plenty more of Harro's and Shaun Ash's on video though.

    Rumblefish,
Trout are a legitimate fishing target and are endorsed for stocking by 4 australain states.
They are a good sports fish in theyre own right & pretty good on the table too. Places like Unclie Billies help take pressure off wild fish stocks. 8)
A broader view is sometimes needed. Try thinking outside the circle & you'll see that trout do have a place (although limited) in australian fishing future.

5 states I would have thought, Tas, Vic, SA & NSW, as well WA which has some small trout streams.

Last but not least there are trout in Qld, not many and very rare, but the odd ones do exist.
