How to attach a pic to your post

To attach a pic to your post do the folowing

    Step One
Click on the Browse button in the Attach section below the Message window

    Step Two
A window will appear as shown in this example

Click on the drop down selection where it says HTML files and select All files as shown

This will show all the files on your computer instead of just the HTML files.
Go to the folder/directory where your picture is located and click on the file. Then click on the Open button

The window will close and you will see the location of the pic in the Attach section as shown in this example

The pic must be in either .gif or .jpg format and under 100 KB in size.

All you need to do now is type in some text in the message window explaining what the pic is of, where it was caught, method used, etc, etc.

For information on scanning your pics for attaching on the boards have a look at

Fishtale you need to change them into jpeg format before you save them.
    What program are you running?
I'm running a program called photo express.....all you do is scan the photo then aquire the pic from your scanner...this is when you have a choice of which format you want to save the photo...select jpeg and then save the photo to your album...thats it mate....this is how i do it but im sure others will have different idea's..hope to see some of your pics soon mate.

    Fishtale and Others.

There's lots of advice available about scanning pics, converting them from one format to another and resizing them so that they meet the image requirements of this and other sites. All the advice is good.

I'll add my advice to the library.

I have used and still use many products for image editing and manipulation, including Photoshop, Photoimpact, Photo Editor, Photo Express, Paintshop Pro etc etc. All have their place as well as strengths and weaknesses.

Most are aimed at editing of images and include many functions to do just that. Resizing and image format conversion are just two of those functions.

Having said that, I'm going to recommend a free product that is the only one I use for resizing images for the web and in many cases for format conversion - it's called IrfanView. Part of my life of retirement (other than boating and fishing) is website development and IrfanView is worth it's weight in gold to me for image resizing particularly.

It's easy to use, has some simple tools for manipulation of images and is quick. It also includes an interface to your scanning software if you want to use it.

You can read about it here http://www.irfanview.com/

Download time is short and the best part is that's it's free.

Would depend on what software you are using to scan them with.

You should be able to save them as Jpeg (.jpg) format when you save them. Your software might have a Save As or Export option instead of just the normal Save option to do this.

    Hi

It is most likely that the images are too big either in Size (Hieght and Width) or too high in resolution (DPI) or both.

Make sure that the image in no bigger than say 400 pixels in either height or width, and that it is no more that 75 pixels in resolution DPI (Dots Per Inch)

You can also reduce the file size of the image in the way you save it. save it as a .jpg (JPeg) and in the save setting apply some compression.

Have a look at http://www.ausfish.com.au/fishphotos/scan.htm for some further tips.

Depending on the sftware you are using you might want to look at downloading a trial version of Paintshop Pro at http://www.jasc.com/ it has features inbuilt specificly for saving files for the Internet.

    Hope this helps
