    First Cod

Hey, this is the first cod I have ever caught, I was pretty happy about it too. For those that know Tamworth I caught it directly behind the Driver Reviver on Armidale Rd

Got him (her?) on the red and black Bassman spinnerbait in the pic. That spinnerbait is now hanging from a tree about 25m upstream of the Sherwood Bridge on the Macleay

    Re: First Cod

I don't see any issue in keeping a fish here and there to eat. This was the first one I ever caught, I have heard plenty about their great eating qualities, there was not a chance it was seeing water again.

    Re: First Cod

ben i am normaly a catch and release cod fisher but every so often i take someone with me who hasn't tasted or caught one before and yes i will keep one to eat when these ppl want but not often so i agree with you, but just remember if its over 15lbs let it go as they are not good eating over that size

    Re: First Cod

No worries, thanks for the tip on the size thing - I have no doubt that I'll never keep a cod again. I can honestly say I can count on my hands the number of Bass I have ever kept, and all of those were in the oven within an hour of capture!!

    Re: First Cod

great to see a nice fish, WELL DONE!!!!!!

Regarding fish over 15lb i have caught cod upto 63lb and have eaten them (shared with freinds) no problems, i think it is all on how you cut them up. old timers do them in cutlets tast like sh!t. larger cod should be filleted and fat and grey meat fed to next doors cat
Heres to your next good one

spudman if you are going to feed it to the cat wouldn't it be better to just let the bigger breeders go and just take a smaller one
