Left Albury last week to fish Awoonga.8th December.
Remember bad weather all over Australia? Not Good
(Very big place need time to fish it.)
Rang Lindsay at Prossie and heard they were bitin' some so took Father-in-Law straight up as he
didn't appreciate the catfish I caught at Awoonga
Spent 6 nights there and we boated 9 fish.Lost about the same all told.
All trolled in the main basin evening and night.
1 in the early morning.
tried casting every morning and some evenings but no luck. OK we're newbies but we tried hard
Sizes were 79,82,88,100,101,112,114,117,118
15lb to 44lb!! Fantastic
Lures successful were barra classics,river rats,DK's and Lucinda Lures Minnows.
Colours were gold+dark,gold +silver,green predominantly,bleeding mullet and dark purple.
No surprise there I'm sure.
Disappointed at the casting side of things but apparently this was a common result at the time.
Lindsay and Jason were great to catch up with and also met respected Fisho Dick Eussen as well
Stayed at Proserpine Caravan park, which also incorporates the local pool, 2 air-con cabins only so get in early.
20 mins to the lake suited us fine. Or you can stay at Camp kanga near the Dam.
Must say it is a credit to the people responsible for stocking the dam etc.... it was a dream come true for me!!
I'll be back to tame, maybe 1? in the sticks
