This is my best cod to date - caught in the Murrumbidgee outside of Canberra -estimated about 40lb - note the canoe in the background - only way I could have landed it as was hooked on 4kg fireline in the snages and had to give chase to land him. I've since caught the same cod on one other occasion and know where it lives as is always around the same snag pile / river reach + or - 200m. The first time I encountered this fish face to face was about a year before I caught it when it tried to engulf a 50 cm yella I was playing into the canoe - seen it on a few other occassions as well when it has boofed lures near the canoe.
