North Pine Gar

went fishing in north pine dam today and caught these gar in a couple of hours. lost my only no.10 hook and had to use a bait jig > Some guys near me were catching redclaw, and had almost filled a 20lt bucket. (think i'll take my pots next time)
Does anyone know any good rigs for catching gar?

a good rig for gar is a float about 4 inches up from a size ten long shank hook with a peice of rolled up bread on the but before u throw out your bait burly up first.

Yeh' we went down there not long ago and put 8 pots in and only got 8 red claw and lost a pot.

but the good thing is we are going to use the red claw for chasing parrot or tuskies

we might be going down there tomorow to check out other places around the dam cause we heard by a ranger that u can go up further (by car too). [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
