Borumba 12-15/01/2005
After Cania I decided to try Borumba. It had only been 23yrs seen I fished it so my wife and I went for a for day fish. Borumba is full and overflowing with floating weed and the water temp ranged from 29-31 deg C. It was hard going but apart from a few bass we managed four toga, lost two and and saw about 8-10 fish. The best method was slow rolling spinnerbaits parellel to the weed but my wife got one on a small Kokoda surface lure. The quality was good with two 70cm fish, a 69cm and a 63cm but they were sluggish compared with Cania. As usual the skiers showed their lack of intelligents with close passes as we tried to fish

A very happy girl with her first toga on a surface popper and a 70cm fish at that.

The spinnerbaits were Stanley Wedge 3/8 oz in Green/black/red colour. !/4 oz would have been a little better to slow roll over the weed but these worked OK with the rod high. I'm lookin at fly gear at the moment. I just have to have one on fly.
