Went up to Borumba on Saturday and bumped into a few Ausfisher's, nice catching up for a chat.
Anyway, went right up the Yabba Arm and started flicking gold spinnerbaits and gold SP's on a beetlespin set up and when the day warmed up, then loaded up the fly rod.
We ended up landing 6 Toga's averaging the 70cm mark and 4 Bass around the 30cm mark. All toga's caught on spinnerbaits and two on fly and Bass on the beetlespins. I lost 3 Toga's that must of been very close to the metre mark, I was spewing...
These were caught early on but when the sun rose and the water temp climbed alittle, they turned off. We must of seen well over 60 Toga's (easy!) and they were all paired up, and the ones we saw, there was a smaller female partnered with BIG males. All were seen cruising the surface and when we flicked everything at them, it doesn't matter how small the flies were, they shot off.
Overall, a great day on the water and had heaps of fun sight casting, now I had practice on the bait fish, it is now 12 days to go for our Awoonga trip for the big girls!!! (Barra that is)
