Picked up the new rig a few weeks ago "Skeeter ZX190"just in time to head out to work for 2 weeks. Bloody anxious would be an under statement! Finally got to christen the new rig last weekend . Dragged a mid sized Glenlyon Cod onto the carpet early Sunday morning after a few fishless sessions. Had unintentionally released a XXXL Cod 10 minutes before due to no preparation at all … Well prematurely released I guess, as it would have gone back anyway!! No big landing nets, pliers, lip grippers, anything! “Big invironet siting in back of ute” managed to get lure out of gob and then tried the comfort lift with thumb in mouth trick… yeah right!!! Fish wasn’t having a bar of that as she/he just thrashed it’s head a few times shredding my hand big time in the process! there was no way I could hold it. After some first aid to stop the bleeding etc, continued casting and not long after came up tight with I nice mid sized Cod of around 25 lbs to slime the carpet with. Mind you it only just managed to fit into the Skeeter net. Fold up Yank bass nets may be OK for thumping big large mouth Bass from the good old God Dam US of A but they just don’t cut it with our Cod & barra over here! Anyway after 2 days at home I got the urge to barra fish so of to Monduran dam yesterday morning for a flick or three, wasn’t to long “approximately 05:00” had the first silvery on deck. Then proceeded to haunt a few spots that produced last trip which paid off well with fish and strikes still coming up to 1:30 pm when I left the water….. 11 Barra landed for the session with 4 jump offs, mainly all smallish ones 65 to 70 cm but a few 85,90cm jobs and 1 metre plus model. Went back out for an afternoon flick close to the main ramp but got the big 0 zilch. End report
Cheers Les
